Download Service

Another feature that the Geoportal offers is the ability to attach files of any format or other resources to complement the information of the layers displayed on the viewer, as well as the possibility to download these files and the main layers themselves.

In general, in any Geoportal that has downloadable resources, to access them, a prior login with the usual username and password must be carried out. Login to the Geoportal

Resource Upload

From the Geoportal administrator, there is the possibility of uploading resources in different formats.

  • GEOJSON LAYER RESOURCES: (Layer Manager-GeoJSON Layers-Add Layer-Resources) The Geoportal may have one or several visible GeoJSON layers, and they can also have various documents as resources associated with them, which can be downloadable.

  • Type: Dropdown with various resource options. In this case, choose Document, which can be downloaded by the user.

  • Name: Mandatory field that assigns an internal name to the document, i.e., the name used within the Geoportal administrator application.

  • Description: Optional brief description of the data’s characteristics. The description will be displayed in both the catalog view and the layer information panel.

  • Title: Unlike the name, the title refers to the name of the downloadable resource that will be displayed in the Geoportal for all users.

  • File: File of any format (dgn, dwg, geojson, excel, pdf, images, etc.) that is uploaded to the Geoportal to become a resource.

  • Downloadable Activation: By activating this option, the uploaded resource can be downloaded by users from the Geoportal.

If you want to add multiple resources, there is an option at the end to Add another resource, associated with the GeoJSON layer.

  • RASTER LAYER RESOURCES: (Raster Layer Manager-Services-Add Service-Resources) Just like with GeoJSON layers, raster layers can also have associated downloadable documents or resources. The process of uploading a resource is exactly the same as in the previous case.

  • QGIS PROJECT RESOURCES: (QGIS Project Manager-Services-Add Service-Resources) Just like before, the process of uploading a resource is exactly the same as in the previous cases.

  • DATASET RESOURCES: (General Settings-Datasets-Add Dataset-Resources) Resources can also be added independently without being linked to a GeoJSON layer, raster, or QGIS project. The procedure for generating a new resource is the same as in the previous steps.

Resource Download

Once all resources are uploaded to the Geoportal administrator (with the downloadable option activated), users from the Geoportal can download these resources to have them available locally. The following shows how to download them.

To access these resources, you have to enter the Catalog, where you can find dropdowns for different layers available in the viewer. From here, you can enter any of them by clicking on the name, for example, in this case, Water Network.

In the upper-left corner, there is a tool that allows you to download the layer displayed in the viewer (e.g., the water network). But at the bottom, there are the associated resources that have been loaded from the Geoportal administrator (in this case, two resources or files). To download these resources, click on the magnifying glass icon.

This way, you can download files associated with layers from the Catalog. However, to download free resources that are not linked to any layer, you can do it as follows.

In the upper-right corner of the Geoportal, in the dropdown altres where Downloads appears. From here, a new dropdown will open on the left side of the screen with all the available resources, both associated with layers and free ones, that can be downloaded.
